Over the last few months you may have noticed improvements being made to the broadband infrastructure across the District and the County. This is an ongoing joint project by the local authorities of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire called Fastershire. The ambition of the project is to enable all areas within the two counties ensuring that all residents have the ability to connect to superfast broadband.
Through this process it has been identified that there are 550 properties within Cinderford that may not have access to a minimum speed of 30mbs.
If you live in these streets, your broadband connection is likely to be part of these affected properties:
- Albion Road
- Bilson School Court
- Market Street
- Victoria Street
- Commercial Street
- Rosedale Court
- Woodside Street
- Flaxley Street
- Pembroke Street
- Abbey Street
The Forest Economic Partnership, in conjunction with Fastershire are looking to resolve this issue. Stage 5 of the Fastershire project is looking to connect communities with the means to upgrade their infrastructure using a grant scheme.
The grant scheme will enable the community to upgrade their broadband infrastructure by facilitating the connection between community and providers. The framework for the grant funding will enable communities to access superfast broadband at no cost to themelves.
A minimum of 50 residents will be required to register an expression of interest in order to secure the grant funding to make this happen in Cinderford.
On 7 December the Board of the Forest Economic Partnership formally agreed to act as the contract manager between the community and the provider.
So please act now - if you live in an affected area you can register an expression of interest at https://www.fastershire.com by using the address checker function.
